Mission Statement
To cultivate students' growth grounded in biblical truth, rooted in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and equip them to use their gifts for His glory through academic excellence and Christ-centered discipleship.
Vision Statement
To create a lasting legacy of students who are grounded in truth, strong in faith, and prepared to make an eternal impact for Jesus Christ.
But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. -Jeremiah 17:7
Statement of Faith
Spruce Mountain Christian Academy (SMCA) aligns with the comprehensive evangelical faith rather than affiliating with any specific denomination. In this commitment, SMCA embraces the following declarations of the National Association of Evangelicals:
-
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
-
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
-
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
-
We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
-
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
-
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
-
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
SMCA Core Values
Spruce Mountain Christian Academy is committed to providing a quality education within a learning environment that emphasizes four core values:
-
Spiritual and Character Development
We teach the gospel of Jesus Christ and nurture the growth of students as disciples of Christ. As students build their relationship with Christ, they are challenged to exemplify behaviors and attitudes which glorify God. Students will see their worth through the eyes of the Lord and use their spiritual gifts to serve God's Kingdom.
We are called to make disciples of all people. (Matthew 28:18)
-
Academic Excellence
We are committed to a teaching staff of the highest caliber both professionally and spiritually. We are committed to using a Biblically integrated curriculum which exceeds national and state standards. We value an honor code of excellence. At Spruce Mountain Christian Academy, we will strive to build the Kingdom of God by exhibiting mature Christian behavior. Our goal is to see each of our students grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ, and we take this responsibility very seriously. Part of that growth is emphasizing excellence in everything that we do. Grace will be key in this venture, but God is our Protector, Guide, Comforter, Shepherd, Provider and LORD.
In all you do, do it onto the Lord… Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men. (Colossians 3:23)
-
Parent Partnership
We value parental involvement. We will partner with parents by communicating regularly via DreamClass, email, verbally and/or handwritten notes. Because Spruce Mountain Christian Academy is a hybrid school, we value a working relationship with parents who are an integral and essential part of their student’s learning. We desire open communication and positive relationships with the parents of our students. Parents, staff and teachers will be required to work together to support each Spruce Mountain Christian Academy student.
Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6)
-
Community Fellowship
At SMCA we will foster relationships with the homeschool, Tri-Lakes and surrounding communities. We value our community. We believe that no man is an island and that we were designed to live in relationship with each other. Spruce Mountain Christian Academy emphasizes the importance of friendship and care of our students, parents, staff and faculty. When restoration is needed between people at SMCA, we will follow the Matthew 18:15 guidelines. Discord needs to remain confidential as we work through restoration steps.
Philosophy of Education
Spruce Mountain Christian Academy holds to the educational philosophy that believers in Jesus Christ are here on earth to help build the Kingdom of God. One of the greatest ways we can do that is to train up the next generation to know, love, and obey the God of the Bible - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. As educators who follow Jesus, our first priority is to partner with fellow believing parents and “Train up a child in the way they should go…” Proverbs 22:6. We are committed to accomplishing this vital goal by implementing our four core values in everything we do. We will strive to help students develop their character and spiritual walk with Jesus, we will implement academic excellence, we will partner with parents for the benefit of each student, and we will represent Christ in the Monument community and surrounding areas. We believe that we can only do all these important tasks through the power of the Holy Spirit.
